Don't install LFS into C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\ unless you know what you're doing.

Quote from Ped7g :But AFAIK airless tires are not a new thing, IIRC BMW did mount them for some time as mandatory choice on some models... IIRC they are considerably more noisy and bump the gasoline usage a tiny bit, but you don't need to have to reserve wheel, so you have more space in trunk.

Run-flat tires that come standard on some BMWs are not airless - they just have reinforced sidewall. They still can deflate due to a puncture or a cut, but afterwards they can get you home (up to 150 km at speeds up to 80 km/h).

Quote from petercollins :It's called progress. No more petrol

Consider this:
Quote :There are an estimated 1 billion passenger cars in the world.

Even if car makers produced only EVs at today’s pace (~70mil/yr), and every EV sold meant one ICE car destroyed, it would take 14.3 years.

Considering today’s production of ~1mil EVs per year, it would take 1000 years to replace them all. This yearly figure will certainly rise, but even if production magically rose 30 fold, it would take at least 30 years.

With Tesla’s current Gigafactory battery output of approx. 22GWh (theoretical max of 35GWh) of batteries, which is good for about 100 thousand Model 3s annually, it would take 10 thousand years to produce the needed batteries, or someone would have to build 700 Gigafactories within a few decades.

A 70kWh battery consists of 12kg of lithium, among other materials. In 2018, 85 thousand metric tons of litium were produced. 85 milion kgs of lithium is good for about 7 million cars, if used only for car batteries. Yearly production of lithium would have to be at least be 10 fold.

None of this accounts for other types of vehicles, nor does it account for highly populated parts of the world with low median income, where the median age of cars is 20+ years and where a majority of people simply cannot buy a new car, let alone an EV for almost double the price.

No idea about that particular map, but are your AIs using default setup, or your custom one?

Surely it's not commercial use if they're not charging people specifically for driving that car?

If your potato PC doesn't support DirectX 9, there's a high chance it's performance would be too low to run LFS anyway.

Btw, how much of a potato are we talking about? I remember having a DirectX 9-capable PC some 15 years ago..

Quote from THE WIZARD DK :Windows. best OS out there <3

Hey lets blame the OS for everything, instead of the installer that does not ask for elevation before attempting a write to privileged directories~

Why would you assume he uses cracks?

Installer tries to extract RO.lgh (and rest of game contents) regardless of what level of license do you have, there are no separate demo/S1/S2/S3 installers.

Crash Time series, anyone? I remember spending hours pursuing suspects down the autobahn some 7-10 years ago Tongue

World Racing 2 was also rather unique for it's time, with decent open-world and hundreds of licensed cars.

Quote from FreeScirocco :LFS is currently CPU limited it seems, GPU is not that important. This CPU limitation makes LFS a bit undriveable at this point (I am sorry to say).

I can't help but disagree - Core i5-8250U of my $600 laptop handles LFS without no issues whatsoever, it's the Intel IGP that's bottlenecking it a little bit. I get around 60-90 fps, but that's with no antialiasing. CPU usage on a single core never goes above 50%, though, so if I had a dedicated GPU, I reckon it could go well above 120, and that's with a full grid of cars on a laptop.

Quote from BeNoM :going without one is just silly.

I mean, unless you run random .exe's you grabbed off piratebay, or got in an email attachment from a Nigerian prince, or found on a USB drive dropped near your office, you're probably going to be fine without one Wink

For those with NVidia Optimus on Windows 10 who can't get 0.5F2 to use NVidia dedicated GPU: it's a known `bug` with Optimus not really supporting DirectX 8 properly.

It can be easily solved by copying a DirectX 8 to 9 converter into LFS directory, e.g. this one: https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9/releases or the one from ENBSeries.

F12 / garage option to swap tires in pairs
Cutie pie
Demo licensed
Hey,
This might sound silly, but sometimes I run into a issue where one tire on an axle is a bit more worn than the other, and it gets replaced, while the other tire on same axle remains hot and steamy.
Obviously, this results in highly unpredictable handling.
Therefore, I would suggest this: a F12 screen option (can also be present in the garage), which, when enabled, will cause tires to be always swapped in pairs on the axle - even if one of them is below the wear threshold.

1) the clutch in it's traditional sense is gone - ie, it is permanently engaged. Therefore, there is no wear to it whatsoever.

2) I'm afraid not in the current state - a lot of memory editing happens to implement it in a way I did it, which will likely trigger a CPW ban.

CVT transmission [checking interest]
Cutie pie
Demo licensed
Hey,
There's something I have been working on, however, I have not yet decided whether I want to make it into a usable modification - I want to know whether anyone would be interested in such mod,
or not.

What I have made is a transmission modification that simulates a CVT, in 2 modes: economical, where RPM is limited to efficiency sweet-spot, around 3k RPM for various cars - perfect for cruising, and sport, where RPM is held at maximum power if you floor the throttle. Those modes can be switched with a hotkey.

Here's a video that quickly demonstrates how it works: https://streamable.com/do6e5

So, any interest in something like this? :Р
